The Academy
... a true alternative in pre-school education for children and their families.
For over thirty-four years NICL has enrolled thousands of children in their preschool and elementary programs.
Parents are more than the people who" Pay the Bills.” Their importance to the child cannot be over estimated. Changes in a family affect the child’s behavior. We take into account those special pressures that affect the child and the family. In this way the family and the school are more integrated.

The Academy
Opened its doors in 1979 as a pre-school in 1982 evolved the elementary school component of our program. NICL is not a new school, but a proven concept in education that involves the family in the educational development of the child. Met on his own level the child is challenged to grow intellectually, emotionally and socially. The family is involved through carefully planned activities that minimize any tendency to isolate his growth from that of the family.
How it Works
A multi-level classroom helps the child work out problems of relating to other children. Instruction in small groups allows for both individualizing learning and emotional support. High standards for performance, a stimulating environment and an excellent teaching staff using computers and an innovative curricula ensure a smooth growth experience.
Grades first through eighth provide a rich, multifaceted, and educational experience.
The primary grades first through third serve as a transitional experience to compliment the emotional development of the child. Classroom work is structured to encourage the development of independence that will be ground work for later grades. The intermediate grades, third through sixth are intensive with very high expectations for quality work with greater independence, responsibility, and self discipline.
Emphasis is placed on creative writing, mathematics and science.
The upper grades, seventh and eighth, afford special opportunities for transferring classroom skills to the outside world. At these levels the child is helped in developing a more positive self-image, additional self confidence, and a knowledge of where he fits into his world.
Performing Arts
Our instructors motivate those students who have imagined themselves entertaining others. Whether it’s seeking to be in the spotlight as an actor, dancer, singer, musician, or wish to go behind the scenes as a cinematograph, director, or stage designer, they become immersed in the world of performing arts. Students gain real experience creating and putting on performances, while building upon their artistic talents.
Computers
Computers are a tool used at the Academy. As they are now a part of everyday life, it is important for today’s children to be knowledgeable of their use and advantages. Computers aid in teaching the basics as well as stimulating creative independent thoughts. They help prepare our children for life in today’s world. Each student has a study island account which connects them to online assess to assist them with their academics.
Foreign Language
Speaking a second language is a life long advantage, but that’s not all. Experts say early learning enriches over all mental development. Mere exposure to a new language promotes higher-order thinking. Students develop fine memories, as well as good listening and thinking skills.
The Staff
Our staff is composed of individuals rich in training, experience and caring qualities and have high regards for children as unique individuals with rights and responsibilities.
Each classroom has a head teacher with a capable assistant.
Entrance Exams
Objective testing indicates a possible starting place for each child. To this is added information from the family to fit each child into his own developmental frame. From this frame a general educational plan is developed in which to apply for curriculum.
